“Go! Sailors Fight” was  released on Bandcamp/ YouTube Friday June 12th Bree veers away from her usual R&B retro soul sound for something a little harder edged. Along with this song being a tribute to her favorite childhood heroine “ The Warrior of Love and justice, Sailor Moon”, one can say this song also serves as a pop/rock, girl power anthem. It pays homage to anime culture and J-pop, with its sparkly arrangement and upbeat, lively feel. A bit of Bree And The Whatevers retro vibe is preserved in the sound of the arrangement and by the energetic and powerful vocal performance of Bree herself.

Bree felt it was important to write a song about this character because she sees a lot of herself in this heroine. She would like to think of herself as a warrior of Love and Justice in her music, which make her songs stand out from many of the cynical and anti-romance tropes in today’s popular songwriting.

The single is available now for a donation price on bandcamp, and will be available on other music platforms within the next month.

Scouting At ‘The Way Station’

Since I was young I’ve only wanted two things: to perform my own music and to be Sailor Moon. Both fantasies came to fruition at The Way Station on June 5th, 2012. A self-described ‘Nerdvana’ in Brooklyn, the bar itself is known for its blatant appreciation of nerd culture in its over the top decor.
